Johanngeorgenstadt in the Erzgebirge (east of Germany) was the first ever targeted mining of the radioactive uranium ore. More than 100 years later, the Wismut AG/SDAG transformed the ecosystem, inhabitants, culture and politics into a contaminated scenery.
